Visa issues

Hungary is a member of the Schengen Area, which comprises 22 member states of the European Union. The Schengen Agreement created Europe’s borderless Schengen Area with no internal border controls. Several members of the European Union, i.e. Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania and the United Kingdom, are currently not part of the Schengen co-operation.

Banks & opening accounts

In Hungary banks are open on weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. (on certain days till 5 or 6 p.m.). Banks are not open on Saturdays or Sundays.

Health Insurance & Safety

The Hungarian healthcare system is well organized: primary health care is available from family doctors, and they refer patients to specialist doctors at the Clinical Center. All higher education institutions provide a health care facility at their medical centres.

University Health Services

The Health Center offers medical services for ISC students at their campus at Nyár utca 8. You can make an appointment to see the doctor if you feel ill, or inquire about vaccinations when preparing for international travel etc.

Transport to Pécs – pre-arrival information

Pécs is located in the Southern part of Hungary. Budapest-Pécs Intercity trains leave regularly and arrive in 3 hours’ time. Motorway No. 6 leads directly to Pécs if you drive by car.

Public Transport within Pécs

Students can easily move around Pécs by bus. We help them to apply for their student card and then they can buy cheaper bus passes. During the first month of your stay please buy full price bus passes to avoid being charged with a fine.
