Preparatory Program

The most intensive Hungarian language course at the International Studies Center is the MagyarOK Preparatory Program. The aim of the program is to help Hungarian as second language students become competent language users capable of pursuing university studies in Hungarian language.

This intensive language course is primarily targeting students whose goal is to put in the work to improve from the beginner level (Pre-A) to the upper-internediate or advanced level (B2/C1) in a short period of time. In addition to general language classes, the preparatory semesters also help build the foundation of academic and technical language required at the various faculties. During the program, participants will also acquire knowledge, skills and abilities that will directly support their higher education studies. The pedagogical approaches and methods used in our courses will raise our students’ intercultural awareness, and train them to develop critical thinking, interpersonal communication and cooperation skills to benefit their academic and professional career.

Structure of the program:

  • First semster: 400 contact hours. Students learn language materials on A1-A2 proficiency levels, with a strong emphasis on mastering learning techniques.
  • Second semester: 400 contact hours. Students will build up proficiency to B1-B2 levels and acquire technical language for the chosen area of study.

The program begins in the first week of September, when students learn the basics during 30 lessons per week. Lessons on phonetic are also included in the first semester curriculum.

In the second semester, language classes are complemented by specialized technical terminology to prepare for university entry and integration. Specializations are available in the following areas:
